Green U.V. Light Coil Purification
This is the simplest system on the site and, for the most common indoor air complaint in this region, usually the right one. A U.V.-C lamp mounted inside the air handler, aimed at the evaporator coil and drain pan, running whenever the system runs.
The reason it works so well here is geography rather than technology. A Florida evaporator coil is cold, wet and dark for most of the year, because the system is producing condensate almost continuously from spring through autumn. That is an excellent environment for biological growth, and it is where the musty smell at startup comes from. Put light on those surfaces continuously and growth struggles to re-establish.

Simple, and That Is the Point
There is not much to this system, which is part of its appeal. What matters is where the lamp points and whether the coil was clean when it went in.
The lamp runs whenever the system does, keeping light on the coil surfaces that stay damp through the cooling season. Growth needs darkness and moisture, and this removes one of the two.
How much of the coil face actually receives light determines how well it performs. Positioning inside the air handler is the whole craft of this installation.
Where the geometry allows, the lamp is positioned to reach the drain pan too. That reduces the biological buildup behind a lot of recurring condensate blockages.
U.V. prevents rather than removes. Installed over an already fouled coil it leaves the existing growth untouched, and the smell you called about does not change.
Unlike filtration, a coil lamp adds nothing into the air path, so it does not raise static pressure. We still check afterward, but this is the lowest-risk air quality upgrade available.
Output falls steadily while the lamp still visibly glows, so a lamp that looks fine may be doing very little. Replacement runs yearly, and we can carry it on maintenance visits.

Before You Order
U.V. stops growth re-establishing. It does not remove what is already on the coil. Fitting a lamp over a fouled coil leaves the growth and the smell exactly where they are, which is why we inspect first and will quote the clean separately when it is needed.

No. A Green UV coil purification system helps prevent microbial buildup from returning but does not remove existing contamination. If organic buildup is already present, professional coil cleaning may still be required before UV installation. UV systems are preventative protection, not a substitute for cleaning.
