The Part Most People Get Wrong
Everything else in a house is easy to back up. The air conditioner is the difficult load, and understanding why makes the whole decision clearer.
A compressor draws several times its running current for a moment as it starts. A generator sized to the running figure will stall or trip at exactly that moment.
